Drumming classes with Abu Zouz at
Yasmine's Studio

Middle Eastern rhythm and Doumbek offered in 6-week sessions with Abu Zouz.
Bi-weekly classes, the first and third Saturday of every month starting January 7, 2012
from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Classes are on a separate payment system by cash, check or PayPal.

$18.00 per class drop-in
$90.00 for 6 session class card (saving $3.00 per class)

Minimum of 5 students must be registered per session or class may be canceled.


Join Abu Zouz for Middle Eastern Rhythm and Doumbek classes.
Beginner – Intermediate Classes: Learn the skills and techniques of playing the Doumbek. Students will have a solid understanding of some of the most common rhythms. Classes will cover history and background of the music, the basic foundations to the rhythms and how to spice them up - maqsoum, saidi, masmoudi kabir, masmoudi-salir(balidi), and ayoub. You will develop a strong start toward sustainable technique. Dancers will benefit from a multilayered understanding of the rhythms that they can apply to their performances. Intermediate students encouraged to attend for review. Students will need to have a drum as there are a limited number of drums to borrow in class. There will be a small amount of homework in between classes and students will receive assistance with practices schedules.
