Class Descriptions:
The "Meow" of the Baladi: Explore the structure, rhythm progression and the "Meow" of the Baladi with Amani Jabril
"Tao" is a concept found in Chinese philosophy. While the character itself translates as 'way', it is used philosophically to signify the fundamental or true nature of the world.
The "Meow", then signifies the fundamental or true nature of the dance, its essence. Follow the "Meow" of the Baladi as we explore the true nature of bellydance, its expressive and improvisational nature. Amani will teach you to clearly understand the conventions of style and the structure of the rhythms used in the baladi progression. We will explore favored combinations of the stars of Egypt and then, break all the rules as we express our soulful nature through the pairing of body & music.
Crowd Pleasing Moves with Aziza Nawal :
Aziza Nawal will share her techniques for audience engagement using step combinations, isolations and imagery. Learn expressive movement, dynamic accents, and best use of space - plus Aziza Nawals's favorite crowd pleasing combinations for oriental routines and drum solos.
What to wear:
Please wear comfortable dance/classroom attire for workshop.
