About American Tribal Style Bellydance (ATS):
ATS is a modern style developed in San Francisco in the 70's.
The style consists largely of group
improvisation and the interaction between dancers. Typically, ATS is performed
in a group with the
dancers using a specific vocabulary of movements that are designed to
be cued and followed. The steps in
ATS are inspired from Egyptian Cabaret, Spanish Flamenco, dances of India
and derived from everyday
gestures which makes ATS appealing to audiences worldwide.
